GPCOG Annual Report for 2007-2008

Regional ReCOGnition Awards for 2008
Nine awards were presented at the GPCOG Annual Meeting on June 19, 2008.  The purpose of the ReCOGnition Awards is to identify and promote success stories in local government and community-based groups and organizations with a parallel objective of encouraging the replication of best practices elsewhere. The awards are presented for best practices in regional cooperation, municipal planning, municipal management, economic development, citizen participation, and (new this year) sustainability initiatives.  Click here for a listing of this year's recipients.

GPCOG Holds First Forum of a Series on Sustainability

Over 200 people attended GPCOG's first forum on sustainability "Preparing our Region for a Sustainable Energy Future."  The program featured a riveting presentation by Charlie Stephens, a former Senior Policy Analyst with the Oregon Department of Energy.  Click here for more information or to order the DVD.

GPCOG Corridor Investments In 2005 MaineDOT and GPCOG worked together in developing corridors of regional significance in preparation for the MaineDOT 20-year plan and corridor based planning.  In 2006 GPCOG designated three corridors (Coastal, Central, and Lakes Region) in Cumberland County, and developed the Cumberland County Strategic Transportation Investments by Corridor document.  Click here to download the document

Public Participation and Environmental Justice are essential to the success of any public program or project. GPCOG and PACTS have created a joint Public Participation and Title VI Plan describing our policies and procedures that ensure full and fair participation by all potentially affected communities in the transportation decision-making process.

Final Draft Report of the Mayor's Sustainable Portland Task Force

The Sustainable Portland Task Force was established by the City of Portland in 2006 to study and address issues related to Portland's environmental, economic and community sustainability.  Two Public Forums were held in October to discuss their final draft report.  Click here to learn more and to download the Final Report.
